When using passwords do not use
Harden your systems by
Patch all of your systems. Intruders can get access through your programs so you have to keep track of "patches"
Install a firewall on the system
Do not install software form little known sites
stop using systems that have already been hacked into
Use Anti-Virus software
Prevention of smartphone hacking:
- Real words or combinations thereof
- numbers of significance such as birth dates
- the same or similar passwords for all of your accounts

- configuring necessary software for better security
- deactivating unnecessary software that is never used, these are the most vulnerable for hacks
- configuring the base operating system for increased security

- Don't share passwords with anyone else
- Don't program your passwords into your phone
- Don't keep private data in your phone for a long period of time
- If you have Bluetooth enabled, make sure "Discoverable" mode is disabled. This prevents your phone from being detected by others scanning for Bluetooth signals.
- Install mobile security software if your phone supports it.
